Our Full Story
The Chadian Camel Racing Federation is an organization dedicated to promoting the culture and sport of camels, these emblematic animals of desert regions. By valuing their heritage, the federation supports and celebrates the traditions associated with camels while raising public awareness of their cultural and ecological importance.
To strengthen this cultural link, the federation offers educational and fun activities. Among these are riding demonstrations, discovery sessions for young people, and training for those interested in becoming jockeys. These initiatives provide participants with the opportunity to discover the subtleties of riding and to better understand the importance of this animal in Chad's nomadic traditions.
With around 500 passionate members, the association brings together a diverse group of individuals who share a common love for camels and their intangible heritage. These members work together to preserve and pass on the know-how and values associated with nomadic life, ensuring that this cultural heritage continues to thrive for future generations.
In collaboration with breeders, national and international associations, as well as specialized centers and government organizations, the federation actively contributes to promoting this animal and supporting local communities. This partnership helps to establish a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the camel sector in Chad.
Collaboration with Dromacity Chad
In 2022, in close collaboration with Dromacity Chad, we celebrated International Camel Day. This event included a mini camel race that captivated spectators and highlighted the skills of local jockeys. The top three winners were rewarded, emphasizing the importance of this event in Chad's cultural calendar.
The goals of Dromacity Chad perfectly align with those of the federation. Together, we work to develop the breeding sector for racing camels, improve the living and working conditions of breeders and herders, and promote camel racing in Saharan and other competitions. By supporting these local initiatives, we contribute to the valorization of Chadian camel breeds and to the enrichment of national heritage.
Training Programs
The federation has also organized literacy training sessions for breeders, while highlighting the added value of camel-derived products, such as milk, meat, and wool. These training sessions aim to empower breeders and develop sustainable methods for utilizing the resources provided by camels.
In 2023, in the town of Bakar, located 50 kilometers from N'Djamena, the federation, together with Dromacity Chad, organized a mega camel race bringing together over 50 camels. This major event attracted a large audience and reinforced the country's attachment to this sporting and cultural tradition, offering breeders and participants a platform to celebrate their shared passion.
